OLIC 1st annual vocational skill training for youth and women started today 12th August 2020 with gele tying and bead making. Our CEO, Mr Samuel Okafor addressed the participants on the importance of acquiring skills which include self-employment, diverse job opportunities, self-reliance, independence and crime reduction. The participants learnt gele tying, bead making, soap making, and pastry making.

 

There were over 30 youth and women that participated in this skill acquisition.OLIC Bead making skill training for the youth and women on 12 August 2020. The participants learnt how to make bead necklaces, earrings and bangles.

 

On the 13th of August, Mrs Sharon Chioma Justus, CEO, Sharonjust Cakes n Events taught participants pastry making. She really gets down to the nitty-gritty of pastry making. The youth learnt how to make egg rolls, fish rolls, doughnuts, puff puff and chin chin. They expressed their happiness for their acquired skills and wants to practice the skills they learnt today. Special thanks to Sharon Chioma Justus for giving her time and knowledge to these children despite her very busy schedule. May God continue to bless her as she touches the lives of these children positively.

We concluded our 3 days vocational skill training for youth and women on the 14th of August, 2020. Our trainer Mrs Nwolisa taught the participants how to make liquid soap, bleach and toilet wash.

 

Special thanks to everyone that made this event a successful one. With your support, we are able to impact skills in the lives of the youth. Skill acquisition is very important for national development as it will help the youth to be self-employed, independent, self-reliant and crime-free. We should empower and equip our youth with skills and knowledge to reduce poverty levels and unemployment in our society.
