Oasis of love international center introduces OLIC Teen Flare
OLIC Teen Flare is a mentorship and life skill coaching program for teenagers between the ages of 13—15 years old. The goal of this program is to empower the teen with a life skill that will enable them to cope with the teenage problem.
OLIC provides the teens with problem-solving skills, assertiveness skill, mental health education, stress management, anger management, emotional regulation, goal setting, sexual abuse protective skill, mental health assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, mental health counselling career advice and relationship advice.
When teenagers are equipped with a necessary life skill, they will be better in handling or coping with stress, deal with pressures from peers, family and society, become emotional stable, avoid risky behaviours and live a healthy life both physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
OLIC also introduce expressive art into the mentor-ship and life skill program. Expressive art is a combination of dance, writing, visual art, drama, music and other creative art. Expressive art enhances individual development. It can improve the well-being and contribute to lowering anxiety and stress, improving self-awareness and self-esteem, strengthening a relationship, regulating behaviour and advancing social vices.
Expressive art help teens feel a sense of normalcy without judgment, allowing them to show their personality and bring attention to their strength. They awaken a teen’s imagination and creativity to help them discover where they are and how to engage their senses. They also bring a sense of calm to their body and positively impact mindset, interpretation of surrounding and emotional state.
By putting their feeling into poem, song, painting, dancing and acting it gives teenagers a safe outlet for negative emotion through an enjoyable activity which accelerates the reality and growth process.
Expressive art can enhance social development by providing support without judgment from peers, parents and therapist. It allows the teen to appreciate the difference between people and accept each other individual perception.
